silly ah a level exams

Notes to myself:

Here are some things to keep in mind going into your final A level exams.

Here is the prioritization in terms of importance

Further Math

Mechanics

For mechanics just remember a few things. You should know exactly how to solve the problem before you start writing lines and lines and lines.

Think critically about the physics, the distinction between strings and springs is important. Note important things like if a string is inextensible, this means that there is no elastic potential energy because remember that

EPE=12Fx \text{EPE} = \frac{1}{2} Fx

so if x=0x = 0 then obviously the change in elastic potential energy is 00.

Be careful of signs.

There are two classes of balancing, energy and force think about which is which.

Trust yourself, sometimes it’s just an algebra bash, you are quite good at algebra.

Maximize your marks, if you are stuck just move on and come back later and keep in mind what information you have used and what you have not used.

Pure

you’ve got this.

Stats

You know your statistical pretty well, always write H0 and H1

Be careful with sample size and variance and stuff, you should know this pretty well but just be careful. Always just take a moment to think about what it is you are actually doing.

So just be sure you know the difference between a population variance and a sample variance

Chemistry

Paper 5

Chemistry is a very practical subject, especially for paper 5 it is extremely important to think practically.

Also remember that the problem will drop lots of hints to you.

Paper 4

I’ve mentioned this, you need to ask around for help and read mark schemes asap after week 1.

Computer Science

you’ve got a lot of things to cover, but this is good, you’re quite good with programming there are four papers and the cutoffs are quite low, this means you’ve got a good chance even if you fumble one of the papers.

Exam Timetable

Ahhhh so close.
